What quantity is measured by a voltmeter?

Current

Resistance

Power

Voltage

Voltmeter measures electric potential difference between two points in a circuit. Because this measurement must reflect the actual driving energy per unit charge without disturbing the circuit, the voltmeter is connected in parallel across the component and is designed with very high internal resistance to draw as little current as possible. The reading is given in volts, which distinguishes it from current (measured by an ammeter) or resistance (measured by an ohmmeter) or power (measured by a wattmeter).
